Last Sunday Scott Evans wrapped up our teaching series, ‘Discipleship From a Distance’ where we have been exploring Paul’s letter to the Philippians. At the end of the letter, Paul reveals his secret for contentment, that Christ gives him the strength to live in plenty and in poverty. Scott preached on the challenge that lies in this passage. Although Paul invites us into this beautiful posture of contentment he doesn’t address the how or the 5 quick steps. How we enter into that place of inner contentment and how we stay there is a challenge for each of us.

Last Sunday Scott Hill continued our sermon series through Philippians entitled, 'Discipleship From a Distance'. Last Sunday Rob Jones started our new sermon series, 'Discipleship From a Distance' where we are looking at the book of Philippians. Rob likened Paul's situation to our own. Paul was writing to the church in Philippi trying to do life and church with them from a distance. This letter is one of thankfulness, encouragement and partnership. We are called to partnership together in the gospel, we can do this and grow in our discipleship, even from a distance.

Last Sunday Rob Jones preached for Pentecost Sunday and continued our sermon series ‘Eastertide: Finding Joy in the Midst of Change’. He referred to it as a time where people went from knowing God to, by the power of the Holy Spirit, feeling God. On Pentecost Sunday we remember who the Holy Spirit is and what he does. Rob brings us back to Genesis where we first hear about the Spirit of God who was in creation. The Spirit then was present in filling certain people throughout the Old Testament. Then a realisation of a promise in Pentecost.
